RAKU Workshop and Accreditation

Registration begins June 6th at 10 am

Fall is the perfect time to Raku!

MPG is offering you the opportunity to learn the process, make unique pieces to treasure and if you are interested in a deeper learning experience, learn to use the kiln so you can plan some Raku firings with friends.

Come have fun in the outdoors with other MPG members. This is a great opportunity to learn a new method of firing your pots and spend the day with old friends and make some new friends from your Guild. Workshop is open to all Guild members - General and Studio.

All MPG Covid protocols will be followed to ensure this is a socially distanced, safe activity.

Participants will be able to fire 2-3 pieces during the workshop.

Maximum participants per day: 8

Cost: $100+ HST

Are you interested in learning how to use the raku kiln? Do you want to rent the raku kiln to use at your own location? MPG has established a Raku Kiln Accreditation process for Studio Members interested in renting the MPG raku kiln which must be competed before renting the kiln. The purpose of accreditation is to ensure individual studio members seeking to rent the Raku Kiln and equipment on their own are able to safely operate and manage the entire kiln set up and firing procedures through several firings. All steps for setting up the kiln and processes for firing the kiln safely will be reviewed and demonstrated to the participant before they complete a firing on their own during the workshop. Once you have demonstrated the ability and have a comfort level setting up and successfully firing the kiln you will be in a position to rent the kiln and fire your own work. Accreditation is open to Studio Members only.  A separate workshop is planned for individuals interested in accreditation.

New Policy

Those seeking accreditation must have participated in at least 3 Raku Sessions (minimum of 2 with this MPG kiln.)
