Sanguine

September - October 2018

SANGUINE - “A synonym for the ‘ruby’, the traditional gemstone.”

Sanguine not only refers to red iron oxide, a chemical used in clay and glazes, but also means optimistic, buoyant and spirited, which reflects the Guild’s focus and passion and is a perfect name to celebrate this milestone.    This juried exhibition at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre Gallery celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the Mississauga Potters’ Guild and honoured the longevity and growing connection to the cultural community in Mississauga.   Ceramic artists explored materials, processes and techniques to visually express their personal narrative, observations and experiences within this thematic framework.
